O010 An Irish Story Told by My Father This is an Irish story told to me by my father. And it was about um a village um many villages in Ireland who once a year were terrified by a coach that raced through all the villages in Ireland and frightened all the people. And they had to run inside and shut their doors. And the reason why it was so terrifying was that the coach was driven by a headless man. And he had a great long whip. And if he saw anybody outside, he would thrash his whip across and off would come their heads. And then he would pick that person up and put them in the coach, and off they would go. So the coach was full of all these headless people. And so you can understand why all the people were terrified to be out on this one particular day. But sometimes they had to go out to get fuel, to keep the warm, or go out to buy bread, or whatever. So they would often be caught. They may not be off course it might but be the time when the couch was through the village, but if they were out at the wrong time, off would go their heads, they would be picked up, and they would go into the coach and off the coach would go on to the next village. Finished.
