UK 001 The Hare and the Tortoise One day, a hare was walking along the edge of the forest, when he noticed a tortoise. The tortoise was moving very slowly. And the hare was not at all impressed. gHow can you move so slowly? Therefs so much to be done.h gSlow and steady wins the race,h said the tortoise. gNo-no-no. I will always win any race we could take,h said the hare. gOh letfs try,h said the tortoise, feeling a little upset. gWe can both run to the edge of the forest, and see who gets there first.h gOh, thatfs easy,h said the hare, having no doubt that he would win. gOn our marks, get set, go,h said the tortoise, and off the hare dashed. And the tortoise steadily moved along, carrying on the same pace he had always been. About half way through the race, the hare realized he was so far in front, he had time for a rest. And being quite lazy, he thought hefd have a little nap. And he laid down under the tree and went to sleep. Meanwhile, the tortoise steadily moved along and went past the hare. The hare slept much longer than he intended. And when he woke up, he saw no sign of the tortoise at all, and figured that he was still in lead. Off he dashed quite happy that he was going to win the race. However, when he got to the finish line, he found that just before he reached it, the tortoise had crossed. gOh dear,h said the tortoise. gIt seems you were a bit too confident about winning this race. Maybe, slow and steady is better.h
